Exhibition information

I take joy in the touch, scent, and feel of both local and exotic hardwoods such as purpleheart, osage, black limba, and many others, each with its own character. I often fuse these timbers with coloured epoxy resins or 3D-printed elements, exploring the meeting point between tradition and modern craft. For me, every piece is an experiment in balance; between precision and play, structure and spirit.

Artist information

I am a Canadian retired Army officer who moved to the United Kingdom in 2016. My affinity for woodworking began in my childhood, shaped by long, happy summers spent in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Quebec’s Eastern Townships — a fitting legacy, perhaps, as my father was a “real” lumberjack in the 1950s.

Having trained as an engineer during my years with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps, my work blends function with artistry — clean, purposeful lines tempered by imagination and a touch of what I like to call *fairy dust*. Each project begins with the rigour of engineering but softens through inspiration drawn from diverse traditions: Shaker simplicity, Pre-Raphaelite ornament, Gothic form, and the clarity of Bauhaus design — quite the magpie collection of influences.
