Exhibition information

I work in what one may call traditional stained glass. Hand mixing oxides, and applying them to the glass. A range of techniques are used to achieve the image. From Sgraffito to direct painting or a combination of multiple techniques. The glass is then kiln fired, perhaps multiple times depending on how many layers of tone and shading I have used. Each firing will take at least 24 hours. So the process is slow. The techniques I use have barely changed in hundreds of years. Its truly a fascinating process

Artist information

I am a retired Design and Technology teacher of 30 years standing. I discovered stained glass while I was still teaching and decided that this is what I wanted to do. I have now been creating glass pieces for over ten years, and I am still fascinated by the process and the variable outcomes one can achieve. I guess my main influences are nature and folklore, I feel that both are connected. When I first started out on my Stained glass journey, I was very lucky to have the help and mentorship of an amazing artist Annette Jackson. Annette helped me on my way, offering help and advice, of which I could only get from an experienced artist. For this I am very grateful.
