BIOGRAPHY AND EXHIBITIONS

My art career began with a degree in Fashion Knitwear Design and I worked in the industry for 12 years, designing for French Connection, Freelance design studios and then an M&S supplier who was based in Hong Kong.

I have always drawn and created and over the last 8 years I welcomed the opportunity to get back into life drawing, and subsequently began painting in oils in 2020.

EXHIBITIONS; Artweeks 2022, 2023 and 2024
The Base Open, Greenham Common, September 2024 and 2025 OAS Open, 2024 and 2025

I am a bit of a Jack of all Trades……I love textiles, the forming of a new thing from yarn or fabric is so very satisfying.

But I also love the contemplative nature of drawing and the terror of painting…

I mainly derive inspiration from the landscape and have used  a lot of trees in my work recently.

Living on the Ridgeway, I spend a lot of time in the countryside ;- walking, taking photographs, sketching and observing seasonal colour changes.

My starting point has always been colour and this is also informed by my background in textile design and travels abroad. I work in my studio interpreting the colour and extracting the essence of the landscape in order to create a contemporary evocative image.

Regular life drawing and sketching from observation is an essential discipline my process.
