Exhibition information

For Oxfordshire Artweeks 2026, I will be opening my garden studio for the first time, presenting a collection of handwoven interior textiles including cushions, throws and textile wall pieces. The work focuses on texture, structure and material, exploring how woven textiles can soften interior spaces through warmth, depth and subtle acoustic qualities.

This year also marks a shift in my practice. Moving into a smaller, more focused studio has simplified the way I work, allowing more time for both design and the development of future teaching opportunities. Visitors are invited to see the work in its making environment and gain an insight into this evolving direction.

I will be exhibiting alongside Penny Maltby and Rachel Movitz of Etta Rain, creating a shared space that brings together complementary approaches to craft and design. Visitors are warmly welcome to drop in, view the work and learn more about upcoming workshops and weaving opportunities.

Her practice is rooted in structure. Drawing on her background in building engineering and textile design, she approaches weaving as both a creative and analytical process—developing woven surfaces through careful exploration of yarn, density and construction. Materials including wool, cotton and wool roving are selected for their structural qualities, contributing not only to the visual language of the work but also to its tactile and functional performance within interior spaces.

The work presented for Oxfordshire Artweeks 2026 focuses on interior textiles, showcasing a collection of handwoven pieces that explore structure, texture and colour blending. Through the use of wool and layered fibres, the pieces introduce softness, depth and a quiet sense of comfort—designed to soften harder architectural environments while subtly enhancing acoustic qualities.

Alongside her design practice, Cassandra is the founder of The Oxford Weaving Studio and creator of The Oxford Frame Loom, through which she develops weaving tools, workshops and retreats, alongside digital resources for a growing international audience. Teaching and knowledge-sharing form an integral part of her work, supporting both local and global communities of weavers.

Her work has been exhibited and collected both in the UK and internationally, and her practice is increasingly evolving towards larger-scale textile applications and woven surfaces designed to interact with space, light and sound.

Artist information

Cassandra Sabo is a Canadian-born textile designer and hand-weaver based in Oxford, UK. She studied Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, graduating in 2011, following an earlier background in building engineering. Her work combines an intuitive approach to colour and material with a structured, analytical understanding of woven form, resulting in tactile textiles for contemporary interiors.

Alongside her design practice, she runs The Oxford Weaving Studio, where she develops weaving tools, workshops and digital resources for a growing international audience. Now living and working in Oxford with her family, her work is quietly influenced by time spent outdoors—particularly through travel and landscapes—which continues to inform her use of colour, texture and material.

Now living and working in Oxford with her family, Cassandra divides her time between her design practice and The Oxford Weaving Studio, where she teaches workshops, develops weaving tools, and supports a growing international community of weavers. Time spent outdoors—particularly through travel, running and time in the mountains—continues to inform her use of colour, texture and material within her work.
