538 St Barnabas C of E Primary School

Region: Jericho – City
Artform: Drawing, Miscellaneous, Mixed Media, Painting, Paper, Sculpture
St Barnabas School’s vision is to help children “soar on wings like eagles”. Our very first Art Weeks exhibition takes that vision as its inspiration, with work exploring the theme “Inspired by Birds” in imaginative, unexpected and joyful ways.
This will not be a corridor lined with neatly mounted pictures.
Expect immersive installations, suspended flocks sweeping through the hall, bold collaborative pieces, intricate sculptures, experimental mixed media, sound, texture and movement. Expect art that spills off the walls and into the space. Expect risk-taking, imagination and the wonderfully unpredictable creativity of children who have been given permission to think big.
Our young artists have explored what it means to soar, to migrate, to nest, to take flight. They have experimented with new techniques, and transformed everyday materials into extraordinary creations. We are especially proud that our pupils will be exhibiting alongside local artists and a number of well-known people connected to the area. Selected works, including pieces created especially for us by our famous contributors, will be sold, auctioned and raffled to raise funds to support the school and the wider community.
Which household names have picked up a paintbrush for St Barnabas? Come and see us to find out! We are just 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre or rail station, 5 minutes from the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter bus stop on the Woodstock Road, and you can park on site.
