5 Heritage Crafts Coleshill

Region: Faringdon – South & Vale
Artform: Glass, Jewellery, Sculpture, Textiles, Wood
Six talented makers, three new-to-Artweeks, will reveal intriguing skills in using simple raw materials to create beautifully handcrafted works. Discover how steel, gold, textiles, wood, glass, gems, copper, paper, silver, paint or leather can be transformed into beautiful and appealing pieces.
Chloé Romanos uses traditional goldsmithing to express emotions in her ever-evolving jewellery designs of ‘heirlooms to cherish’, often inspired by her archaeological achievements. She has introduced her Coleshill Collection, ignited by the story of the Estate’s lost grand house.
Andy Breeze and Andy Bunyan create impressive dynamic bird sculptures in steel that convey their love of nature. Stunning full sized owls, little wrens, popular woodpeckers or robins form their main choices – each one being created with its own character.
Amanda Benstead explores form, colour, texture and composition, employing multiple processes and materials including ceramics, metals, paper, wax, printmaking and textiles. More recently she has been using abstract printmaking and sculpture to explore the relationship between 2D and 3D.
Nicky Kahl and husband Philip craft environmentally friendly woodwork in range of their own designs : from tables or cutting boards to interestingly combined materials in furniture pieces. They also undertake upcycling projects or create bespoke items.
Marie O’Byrne is motivated by bringing happiness to people’s windows ! Enthused by nature she combines paint, wire detailing, and stained glass to make original works. Expect to see colourful and joyful moths, bees, birds and other interesting subjects.
Anne Mills loves wood and has fun selecting pieces with individual character – this is what initially stimulates a journey in handcrafting unique bellows. The delight in people’s reactions to handling and discovering the effective whoosh from a sleek nozzle inspires her in this rare craft.
