This will be my second Artweeks with the artists at Great Coxwell and I am looking forward to it very much. The members are very varied and talented and welcome newcomers with warmth and good humour and also the Reading Room is very popular for refreshments!
For many years I have worked with local artists groups and societies including Oxford Art Society and West Ox Arts at Bampton whose members are currently preparing work at Kelmscott Manor, the former home of William Morris, as part of the house development programme. Towards the end of the season our work is exhibited and I have included some of that work here during Artweeks.
Mostly I work with collage and collagraph printing. With collage, I like to include robust papers from a Swedish clothing catalogue because of the quality and vivacity of colour. Collagraphs are a form of print-making adding adhesive or solid material to a printing plate utilising both relief and intaglio methods. Printing inks are then applied to the plate which is placed on dampened paper and rolled out on a table press.
