This course introduces the basic techniques of intaglio etching. These include using line (hard ground) and tone (aquatint). Also there will be sessions on drypoint, alterations (scraping and burnishing) and soft ground textures.
Differences in pigments, inks and specialist papers will be discussed and attention given to workshop practice. All necessary materials are provided, and optional specialist paper and zinc may be purchased.
This course enables students to become probationary members of the workshop to access facilities, with view to becoming a permanent member.
