Paint while having a stroll through the park!
Each session has a different theme to explore the variety landscape and nature painting has to offer – from detailed plant paintings to abstract textures. Each session runs about 2.5h and you will be guided step-by-step in these beginner-friendly art workshops. You can book a single session or the whole course. Please get in touch if you want to book all session, since I am happy to provide a discount.
Session 1: Petals and Leaves (23rd May; 10.30am-1pm)
Take a closer look at the structure of various leaves and flowers and capture their essence in detailed drawings and paintings. During the workshop you will learn different techniques by drawing and painting plants close-up and from a greater distance.
Session 2: Trees (6th June; 10.30am-1pm)
In this session we will draw and paint different trees and their various shapes. We look at grow patterns, textures and colours and how to capture them with different drawing and painting techniques – from pencil drawings to colour illustrations with watercolour, colour pencils, pastels or your own favourite medium.
Session 3: Light and Shadow (4th July; 10.30am-1pm)
Depending on the time of day, cloud cover and the light conditions a landscape always looks different – with harsher or softer contrast, brighter or more muted colours. In this session we capture the landscape as the light changes during the day.
Session 4: Textures (18th July; 10.30am-1pm)
Using paper, pencil and charcoal, we will capture the different textures found in a landscape: tree bark, paths, rocks. We will afterwards use these drawings to inform an abstract landscape painting.
Session 5: The Bigger Picture (1st August; 10.30am-1pm)
Capture the park in all its glory. This session will focus on capturing depth and perspective in a landscape painting or drawing. You will be guided to find an interesting angle, how to capture foreground and background and draw the eye to focus points in your work.
Meeting point: Car Park Entrance to Florence Park at Rymers Lane
Basic materials (paper, pencils, watercolour…) will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own favourite painting materials and a sketchbook.
The workshops go ahead in all-weather apart from heavy rain. In that case the session will be rescheduled to a later date.
