Suitable for beginners and / or those with some experience, the course will cover a range of approaches to fine line and tonal engraving on end-grain boxwood and lemonwood, as well as inking, printing and hand burnishing (on Japanese and European papers) and printing on an Albion relief press.
Participants should bring sketches and / or photographs that could be used as the basis for creating small-scale black and white engraved images. The course will also include an introduction to the rich potential of creative collage using wood engraved prints; it also forms a basis for those wishing to join Oxford Printmakers as future members. Anne Desmet specializes in wood engraving, linocut and mixed-media collage of architectural subjects from London to Rome. She exhibits regularly.
