Jessica Parker – Painting in layers of mixed media

We will be studying organic shapes based upon dried buds and leaves. Loose sketches are done to familiarise shapes and tones.
Working on heavyweight paper and using sharpy pens we will complete a continuous line drawing concentrating on the basic shapes. This will then be covered with a thin layer of white acrylic paint and allowed to dry.Using a soft pencil, the image is then loosely drawn on top of the previous layer. Another layer of thin acrylic is added. PVA glue is then painted all over the surface and lastly a diluted ink is used to redraw on top again. Working with this abstracted image; paint, pastels and ink are applied to complete the finished piece.
All techniques are full demonstrated and all materials are included.
