Come along to our family-friendly creative art workshop to make a night sky mobile with local artist Emma Williams.
Through an exciting technique that uses wire and fire, you’ll create elements inspired by the night sky – stars, moons and planets – and construct a beautiful hanging mobile.
In this half day workshop you’ll have a demonstration of the technique before creating your own shape templates in card and then wrapping them in fine wire. You’ll then take your pieces to our outdoor classroom for the firing stage – where the card is burnt away in a controlled fire pit so that just the wire structures remain revealing the delicate 3D forms. The final step is to build your night sky elements into a mobile, constructed from a foraged twig, with bells and beads added to embellish your final piece.
The workshop will be led by Earth Trust staff and Emma Williams from Natural Learning Oxford, a local artist and arts educator who specialises in working with families.
At every step you’ll have help and support from Emma and the team.
The finished product is a unique, decorative mobile which you can hang in your home or garden.
