143 Toby Aird-Rossiter

Region: Watlington – South & Vale
Artform: Painting
Aird Rossiter is a self taught outsider artist currently practicing in the south Oxfordshire countryside. Primarily working in oil paint, mixing between charming still lives and animal scenes, through to portraits where the artist reflects on emotions and recreates life as they like to see it. In full colour.
Previous Jacksons longlister, RA Summer Exhibition shortlisted, Oxfordshire art weeks exhibitor.
Exploring through layering and removing those layers to show the workings. Building and breaking down subjects until some form of truth to the emotions desired or what the artist is currently channeling are conveyed. There’s rarely a set idea from the beginning, instead an idea of where to go, a composition in which one can work in and find the gold through that practice. Limiting their tools so they have to adapt within the craft knowing they will lead the artist where they want to go.
