A riot of joyous colour awaits you in my studio.....

Over the last two years I have taken a massive step in my painting practice. I am currently making ephemeral dream like abstract paintings. The shapes and colours are reminiscent of landscapes, flowers, views, hidden spaces and forgotten vistas.

I find at the moment that I am creating instinctively, colours and shapes flow with an energy of their own. I don't start a piece with a fixed idea in my head of what the final painting will look like, it evolves and appears on the canvas as I work. Rather than looking to achieve realism and detail in my work I now go to the studio and try to listen to an inner voice that allows me to work spontaneously, thinking about colour, shape and texture.

Due to the way I paint my work they can be displayed portrait or landscape. I rotate the canvas as I work, so that the painting has no real orientation, it is up to the viewer to decide which way is up! The marks made by my brush or my fingers often form the shapes of abstracted land, sea and floral scapes.
I have for years been fascinated by rendering the texture of fur and feathers too. There are always paintings of wild birds, hares and animals adorning the walls of the studio.

Do get in touch if you have your eye on something… I am more than happy to give you more information on a piece if you like and socially distanced viewings are available in my garden studio by appointment. I appreciate that buying artwork can be a big investment and is a very personal choice.

Original acrylic paintings, pastel paintings on slate tiles, cards and prints are available.
