My work always starts with drawings, coloured pencils or paint. This is an opportunity to explore shape, colour and composition. If these ideas arrive at a satisfying conclusion, they are transferred onto lino, then cut, inked up and printed in layers on an old flat-bed press onto handmade paper. My work lies somewhere on the border between stylized and figurative images : landscapes, plants , people and animals occasionally urban subjects based on observation and memories.
I show my work in galleries, art fairs and exhibitions including The Watts Gallery, Surrey, The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle, and Bankside in London and The Dolphin Gallery, Wantage.
I also teach printmaking, and am a member of the Oxford Printmakers Co-operative and The Oxford Art Society.
Our studio is in Lower Radley a few miles south of Oxford along the Thames, turning over the railway bridge in Radley and continuing a kilometre along the road until you reach a fork in the road where you take the right turning. The studio is the third building on the right just past a horse field and before a row of old redbricked terraced houses. There will be clear signage and plenty of parking.
I am showing my work alongside another printmaker (Lizzie Wheeler) and a potter (Belle Foreman).
