Sarah Dragonetti is a painter and more recently a print-maker, living and working in Oxford and originally from the Isle of Wight. Sarah uses oils, acrylics, watercolour, charcoal and pen, to create images through juxtapositions of colour and texture and her work is informed by her past experience of living by the sea and her extensive travels abroad to Jerusalem and Palestine, as well as Europe, where the colours and hues are imprinted in memory, and inform some of her work. Sarah also takes inspiration from various objects to suggest shapes and angles, pleasing in everyday life, whilst resisting representational forms.
Sarah works in a variety of media to explore light and structure, in a continuous process of working and reworking the surface, using thin layers of warm and cool tones, to create forms and spaces with sweeps of colour, and allowing abstract shapes to be born.
This Artweeks exhibition brings together works from different aspects of Sarah’s artistic practice, showcasing a range of styles, and speaking to the themes of discovery and transformation, within the creative process as well as personal journeys.
