My inspiration is mostly drawn from the natural world, tree forms, rock forms and walls figuring frequently. Shapes need to be stylised and defined to be translated into a lino cut, whereas greater subtlety and a range of tones and colours can be shown in a painting. Texture and contrast are always an attraction in whatever medium I work. Progress is continuous and there can be alterations along the way when painting, but a lino cut needs to be planned and is only fully realised after the last stage of printing.
