Rachel Cronin’s paintings are concerned with the way the past intrudes upon the present. Symbols, signs, and animal tracks mix with telegraph poles, gates and fenceposts as we search for ways to remember who we once were by seeking out the wild face of our surroundings. With surfaces worked up over months, evocative abstract landscapes emerge that respond to the environment by exploring dynamic colours and experimental mark making.

Kelly Washbourne’s canvases represent their own journey as paint is layered and balanced to create exquisite colour relationships, provoking both thought and emotion. Taking months to complete, each piece becomes a evolving record of the painting process offering glimpses into the hidden history of its creation.
