About the Open Studio

Looking onto her garden, Molly makes mixed media works which are a love letter to the natural world.

Visit the artist in her home studio, situated in the back room of her eclectic home. The studio space is shared with her partner Anna who runs queer arts and events nonprofit T(ART) Productions.

Molly creates beautiful pieces using natural materials, including foraged berry dyes, mushroom ink, leaf prints, spore prints, and clay. These elements come together to create gorgeously textured pieces. Molly is fascinated by the seen and unseen, boring and beautiful, the domestic, the perfectly imperfect.

Join Molly for a cup of tea, and discover how nature inspires them to take note of the little things and stay grounded and present.

It may be through the tactile treasure of the humble cabbage leaf, or the fortunate finding of forageable mushrooms. Or maybe the not so fortunate surprise of finding a rat named Pat that lives behind your kitchen sink.

Molly is also a candlemaker and a selection of her handmade essential oil vegan candles will be available for purchase. These beautiful Messymoos candles are presented in recycled jars and topped with stunning dried flowers. A range of plant cuttings will also be on sale.

There will be print demonstrations running throughout the day.

Getting here: The Studio is easy to get to using public transport. There is a bus stop right outside, near Gipsy Lane and Oxford Brookes Headington campus. You can take the 8, 9, park & ride 400, X32, 275 or 280 bus. The house is on the street just behind the bus stop on the main road, and will be marked with an Oxfordshire Artweeks flag.

Accessibility: If you give us advance notice we can make sure a parking space is available to you. There is a small step to get into the house, but everything is on the ground floor. The corridor is narrow. If you have any specific accessibility needs, let us know beforehand and we will do our best to accommodate you.
