In my youth I drove a van to Morocco and spent some time in the seaside pottery town of Safi, eventually coming back to the UK loaded to the roof with beautiful rustic wood fired pottery and a lifelong love of the process of pottery making.
I learned to throw pots with Neil Tregear at evening classes and almost everything else from Michael Cardews book Pioneer Pottery. A visit to his bottle kiln at Winchcombe and meeting Dylan Bowen set me in the direction of slipware. I aim to produce fresh and innovative work within the slipware tradition
I have a studio with a display window near the Market Square in Bampton which is open to the public when I’m there or by appointment. The name Sun Pottery was originally the name of a mobile pottery workshop I ran at music festivals
