127 Lucy Ballard

Large serving bowl in white stoneware with green brushstroke decoration.

Region: Oxford East – City

Artform: Ceramics

I make wheel thrown functional ceramics in my garden studio in East Oxford. I fire to stoneware temperatures to create sturdy items to use everyday with joy. Tactile bowls and comfortable mugs – in the perfect size from tiny espresso to generous morning tea. Personalised commissions for celebrations. Teapots and lidded jars. Decorated with colourful oxides using free handed brushstrokes, every one is different but related.

Forays into figurative work this year include animals and birds and a Nativity scene for New College Chapel which included the oft-neglected Midwife character.

This year I will be exhibiting both at Caper Bookshop on Magdalen Rd alongside artist Karina Tarin and jeweller Chloe Romanos, and at home on Stanley Rd.
