Discover a stimulating, creative group in Stanford in the Vale – established landscape artist Lawrence Ward, celebrated gold/silversmith jeweller Chloé Romanos and intriguing bellows maker/digital artist Anne Mills.

Lawrence Ward is a Member of the Oxford Art Society, Faringdon Art Society and Lechlade Art Society, and is exhibiting some of his latest acrylic landscape paintings here at The Vine. Carefully worked in his unique and evocative style, he guides the viewer on a tour of local walks and the woods and hills of his other favourite corners of England. Each painting is an invitation to step through the frame and share a sensory moment, appreciating what inspired Lawrence to capture the time and place in paint. Just pause, take in the atmosphere and let go some of the stress of life.

Chloe Romanos is a jeweller working with traditional goldsmithing techniques. She is a member of the Guild of Jewellery Designers.
Each creation is individually handcrafted using recycled silver or gold and incorporing colourful gemstones. Her background in archaeology and her fascination for art history has inspired her to explore metal transformation and texture, in order to create meaningful and sensitive statement pieces that capture the beauty of small details.

Watching someone noticing Anne’s fireside bellows for the first time is to see a whole range of emotions as they are captivated by the soft warm glow in the character of the wood – the tentative reaching out to touch the smoothness, and the happiness when encouraged to pick them up and ‘have a blow’! Each bellows is unique as English wood is carefully selected for distinctive characteristics.
Anne is a maker member of Heritage Crafts as well as Crafts Council, but it is people’s reactions to these appealing fire makers that inspires her.
Local legends and myths are prevalent in her digital art, as well as cheeky bears, Spitfires and a dynamic Sport Series. “Interesting and eclectic mix” of digital art, as expressed by an Artweeks visitor, probably describes it best!
