Having discovered Bargello, the Florentine form of embroidery, I have become obsessed by the colourful and structured nature of it. This body of work explores form, palette and perspective. The time-consuming nature of the medium combined with the no-pre-planning approach I take with the colour or the form, allows for bold and rigid canvases to slowly fill until they are done, without even the maker knowing what the final image will be until it is.
I am very excited to be showing alongside the experienced artist and jeweler, Tess Blenkinsop. Without her encouragement and guidance I would not have been brave enough to show this work.
