Erin Rosalie Thomas is pleased to present ‘This Too, Was A Gift’ at Sarah Wiseman Gallery, a collection of needle felted works, prints & drawings.

Erin investigates feminine identity as politicised and conflicted, often effecting interpersonal connections and emotion. She illustrates the female figure's situational space through body language, expression and object placement. Humorous and symbolic with the inclusion of social commentary, they show the complexities of finding a sense of place in the world.

‘This Too, Was A Gift’ refers to Mary Oliver's poem 'The Uses of Sorrow'. Erin investigates the depth of situations that cause emotional turmoil, but often change us for the better. Each figure is full of contention and signals, with expressive gestures indicating a reaction or emotion. Erin says, 'In negative situations, great reward can come in the aftermath as we develop more informed values on ourselves and others. This collection of work highlights the strength we gain from such experiences.'
