Debbie Farrell
I am a practising textile artist living in Ewelme who specialises in free motion embroidery. I use my sewing machine as a tool to draw and paint with, changing my thread like one would change their paint colour. Without the tension I am free to go in any direction, creating different textures. I try to use metallic threads in my work as they add depth to my pieces and catch the light.
My inspiration mainly comes from the sunlight through the seasons, whether it be in the surrounding chilterns or by the coast in Cornwall. I have taught textiles, art and photography to A Level as well as working in a textiles studio. I am currently taking a diploma in interior design to push my creative ideas further.
Trisha Scott
Colour and the beauty of nature often inspired by the Chiltern countryside or her native Scotland, is what excite Trisha Scott. Having had a background in science and travel, she started painting only 14 years ago on retirement with no formal training. Trisha started the Watercress Painters, the local Ewelme village art group, 12 years ago and enjoys plein air painting, workshops and gallery visits with her group. Having started painting in watercolour, Trisha moved over to more versatile pastels and now really enjoys the vibrancy and immediacy of oils, whilst experimenting occasionally in mixed media. Her style is relatively figurative but sometimes experimental and features local scenes but with an eclectic mix of subjects - mainly landscapes.
