The beautifully lit Music Room and Garden Studio are inviting spaces for viewing the stylishly framed paintings and drawings. In the bay window of the Music Room are a grand piano and instruments which appear in some of the paintings - often a fusion of still-life and interior. The decorative Rajasthani cupboards and vintage 60s curtains signal a fascination with designs from many periods and cultures which permeate nearly all the work.
Artefacts from and memories of travel in Europe and further afield have encouraged me to build large assemblages in my studio indulging my love of colour, strong design and pattern. These provide a starting point for some of the still life paintings on display which, as with all my work, are done from direct observation.
The views from my studio window provide the opportunity for 'garden still life' paintings as the seasons change and gardening paraphernalia gets moved around.
The work ranges in size from statement 'over the fireplace' pieces with arresting compositions to smaller pictures and ink drawings for more intimate corners.
