Dominique Malacarne is a designer-upcycler. Every year, in the UK alone, 300,000 tonnes of re-usable furniture end up in landfill. We live in a throwaway society where what we own defines us. As a designer, she wanted to become active in finding ways to promote sustainable lifestyles, and so created the professional upcycling studio, Malphor. Turning unwanted vintage furniture into objects of design coveted by the eccentric and the eco-conscious, she helps create timeless classic interiors layered with bohemian decadence and a dash of gothic glamour.

Dominique is a member of The House of Upcycling, and has exhibited at Grand Designs Live.

Claire Francis is an Oxford based artist specialising in alternative process printing: cyanotype and gum bichromate. She has been making photographs and using alternative print processes for 25 years, producing an ever growing collection of handmade images.

"There are times when my work is all about the the physical process of making, about looking through a series of layers, using the trace elements of the process to stare beyond and into the picture; incorporating and exploiting the maker’s marks."

Much of the work exhibited will be from her natural science series, “Back to the wild place"; a meditation on climate change. Imagined scenes were made by doubling negatives of wild landscape and of taxidermy animals. At first glance these one-of-a-kind, gum bichromate photographs appear unremarkable, it is only with more engagement that the images appear ghost-like and there is an unsettling realisation that all is not as it seems.
