I make functional stoneware. All work is wheel thrown; I am passionate about working on the wheel, pure magic! I apply simple surface decoration with ceramic rollers on the leather hard clay. I use a white glaze made for me in Ireland. My work is sent throughout the UK, to Europe, the States and Canada.
For handles I use akebia quinata vine, a lovely natural material which I import from Japan. Coils of akebia are soaked in water for two days, after which the strands are pliable and can be used to create handles. All work is oven and dishwasher proof apart from pieces with akebia.
The pottery is in a corner of our beautiful secret garden, overlooking fields and the river Thames. There is ample parking on the Green. Lovely walks from the Green across the fields, over the weirs to Sutton Courtenay, along the river or past Culham lock. And good pubs for lunch in Sutton Courtenay! Pots will be displayed in a large gazebo in the garden and in the pottery. Children are very welcome and might like to go on the swings or down the slide. Visitors might like a beaker of home pressed apple juice, wander around the garden and look at the hydroponic greenhouse.
