In my paintings I try to interpret the mood, structure and feel of the landscape. My subjects are places I have visited where I have been moved by walking in them. My still life paintings are typically full of nature – flowers, shrubs or dramatic shapes which just ask to be painted. I am less interested in accurately representing what I see as I am in translating it into seeing the familiar differently.
I love the rhythms of colour and light which mean I try to paint beyond what can be immediately seen’..into the patterns and feelings I get of the subject.
