Antonia Bruce and Emma Whyte have joined forces to re-present a variety of mid century tables and regenerated oak refectory tables with new decorated surfaces. Working with, and training companions from Emmaus, the old tables are taken apart, sanded, any tired joints replaced, bends and curves are straightened out and when they are sure and strong again, the tops are prepared for original artwork to be applied. The usage is enhanced by providing not only a decorated but also a durable, waterproof, utilitarian surface which can take hard knocks and look stunning in any location.
Emma will use this opportunity to launch a new business: Reloved Revolution, a community supportive initiative to influence and encourage new shopping habits, normalising the incorporation of used materials to make a high end product.
Antonia has produced new bespoke designs for the table surfaces using Japanese papers for their strength and durability. Images reflect her earlier cyanotype work of large maize plants, freshly sourced for the large tables and ink drawings of dancers for smaller pieces.
New framed artwork will also be available for sale.
Both artists have a history of collaboration within environmentally aware projects and this remains of primary importance in the production of their work. We are proud to be working this year with Emmaus, the homeless charity and look forward to future growth.
