Working from my garden studio, I enjoy creating hand thrown and glazed pottery for the home. I take particular pleasure in creating pots which inspire feelings - whether it is an uplifting colour or a huggable mug. After a working life in fashion I can't help but be influenced by emerging trends in colour, form and texture but I am increasingly influenced by the myriad colours and patterns of nature. I walk most days in the Chiltern Hills or along the Thames and holidays featuring empty beaches and coasts around England and Wales.
I love to experiment with different techniques like tape or paper resist, impressing, carving, dipping, pouring and marbling. I make my own glazes using pigments, ash and clays including minerals and oxides. My pieces start as individual items - maybe a vase or a jug, followed by a similarly inspired piece connected through colour, inspiration, shape or detail. These often work displayed as groups. I am on Instagram and Facebook as @riverclay_studio
