I am Amy Letts, an Autistic Artist, exhibiting during Artweeks from my garden studio in Headington, Barton Area.
Art has always been an important part of my life, and I pursue it with an obsessive intensity. If I am doing something else you can be confident that I’d rather be making art! During a mental health crisis I learned that art is essential, not optional, for me.
I am interested in all mediums as well as different styles and subject matter, which means my expertise extends far and wide. I am able to share this through my Art Classes, which I run from my studio throughout the year. “StART Art Classes” are aimed at beginners with the goal of starting your creative journey the right way and igniting creativity. Art is for humans what song is for birds; I think it is innate to everyone, the need to express ourselves uniquely and with our own voice.
Needless to say, I am delighted to talk about my favourite subject, so don’t be shy asking questions or using me as your “Art Agony Aunt!”
My favourite subjects tend to be nature and mythology, so you can expect to find paintings of local Oxford landscapes, animals and birds, as well as the occasional magical creature. This year I have been practising loosening up and doing fast watercolours of wildlife. I’ll also have a few more ‘little things’ on sale such as greetings cards, stickers and badges.
I’m open on the weekends, but if you can’t make it then do get in touch if you would like to visit during the week.
