Alexandra is a materiality-led designer-maker of precious, one-of-a-kind heirloom jewellery. She is concerned with individual and collective memory, legacy, and human flourishing.
The foundations of her approach to design were laid in the abandoned and repurposed buildings of post-Cold War Berlin, where humans congregated to revel in art and become themselves. Her work therefore celebrates imperfections as signs of human flourishing in juxtaposing abstract forms, deliberate process marks and textures in luminous, 18 carat gold with the smoothness of unique salt & pepper diamonds. The wearer is expected to co-create their piece by way of their own, inadvertent mark making over time, thus recording their personal history on the piece itself before bequeathing it to the next generation to continue the process.
Sustainable practice is very important for Alexandra: She keeps environmental impact low in her studio, uses recycled metals and increasingly alloys her own using repurposed gold, while her stones come from suppliers with clear ethics policies.
She also creates bespoke pieces and remodels sentimental gold jewellery.
