Exhibition information

Wendy’s interest in weaving as an art form started from the ‘Here and Now’ exhibition at the Holburne Museum in Bath in 2017.  This exhibition showcased contemporary tapestries from around the world and highlighted the scope of artworks created by hand-weaving.

Tapestry weaving pulls together her interest in materials, texture, colour and abstract design. Her  weavings are mainly worked in wool with the weaving process clearly visible in the final works.

Wendy also works with textiles and stitch to create abstracts based on colours and textures of her local surroundings. In these works she is combining her emotional response to the subject with a mathematical interest in shape and space.

Each piece of artwork is designed to show the artist’s direct involvement in the work.

Artist information

Wendy studied art at Bath College and has attended courses in the RWA in Bristol and at the Royal Drawing School in Shoreditch.

Wendy is also co-founder of Wallingford Textile Hub based at Ayres House, along with Amy Hughes.  This is a collaborative group of artists who work across diverse textile techniques and who are interested in sharing knowledge and learning new skills.
