Living, for the past 30 years, in the pretty village of Ewelme with its historic school, almshouses and watercress beds, Trisha finds plenty of inspiration locally whilst out walking her Belgian Shepherd dogs in the changing seasons but also loves using vibrant colour in an eclectic range of subjects from painting her dogs to echoing the stunning colours to be found in the Scottish islands.  A particular love of mountains is reflected in some of her oil paintings and, having worked in skiing for many years, she delights in portraying snow scenes.  Only turning to art on retirement after a career in travel she has been influenced by the Impressionists, in particular, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cezanne.

Together with a group of like-minded painters, Trisha established the Ewelme Watercress Painters 12 years ago and, apart from regular painting sessions, arranges art history talks, plein air sessions and gallery visits.

During covid lockdowns, Trisha turned her garden summerhouse  into an artist’s studio and enjoys views to the garden and being surrounded by birdsong, trees and flowers. Painting in oils, she normally has at least three or four paintings on the go at the same time giving time for study and reflection. In her artworks  you will find that the beauty of the countryside is reflected in a bold and dramatic palette.  Her sketchbook records her travels (in particular a memorable trip to St Kilda, the furthest NW point of the British Isles)  which are now not quite as adventurous as those when she travelled overland to India, or hitch-hiked around Australia and New Zealand.

Trisha is delighted to be sharing with the textile artist, Debbie Farrell, where both are exhibiting in Debbie’s lovely garden gallery at Chantry House, Nolay Close, Ewelme OX10 6HG.  (What Three Words: companies.never.ridge. They look forward to welcoming you.
