Exhibition information

I will be at Greyfriars Church Hall, Iffley Road, with my colleagues from the East Oxford Art Collective, around 12 creatives from the area.

I will bring wetfelted creations with wool & silk, including scarves, necklaces and jellyfish.

Also a number of abstract landscapes and miniatures, in various techniques, all unique one-offs: gelplate monotypes, alcohol inks, acrylic swipes, acrylic inks.

Artist information

Susanne is part of East Oxford Art Collective https://bio.site/eastoxfordartcollective

The main theme of my artistic and abstract work is emulating shapes that exist in nature. I am drawn to processes that don’t require the use of machines, and materials that have their own direction and energy. My philosophy and approach to professional musicmaking is continued in the same vein in my art: an equal balance between technical skills to achieve the desired result and knowing when to let go to give the materials (or instruments/music) the freedom they need to flourish and create something unique that cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way again. Wetfelted lamps resemble alabaster-like planets, with the fibres coming to life when lit. Abstract landscapes from tiny cut sections of a bigger piece, suggest hidden miniature worlds. Felted sea creatures remind of colourful sea anemones or jellyfish and silk scarves hint at abstract flower meadows. Monotypes evoke memories of the sea or gloomy night walks.

I am very much influenced by my surroundings – my love for blues and greens originates from growing up near the Alps with countless mountains and lakes, and from rolling hills and fields in the UK.
