Exhibition information
I love to work as a Textile Artist mostly creating hand-stitched pieces. I start with an idea in my head, generally do not sketch on paper, but transfer into the third dimension straightaway. I prefer to use felted wool as a base, add texture and strong vibrant colour using hand-dyed and printed fabrics and fibres. Of course, I do use the sewing machine in some cases for freehand machine stitching and construction. Weaving is also a passion using my peg and Harris looms. Most of my textiles are finished as pictures and wall hangings but I also enjoy turning them into more three-dimensional bags, cushions, etc.
Artist information
Ever since I can remember I have loved to stitch, sew and create. Having a successful career as a Couturier, designing original special occasion clothing my work has always been fine and precise. Now my soul is fed as a textile artist allowing me more freedom and flow.
I am thrilled by using texture and vibrant colour, always seemingly with a landscape theme which is so inspiring to me. Surrounded by the ever-changing scenery of the Wittenham Clumps, I am influenced by the clarity of light and the wonderful aspects of where I live and work.
My work features textile pictures, wall-hangings, decorative cushions, bags and boxes.
