I have been felting since 2012. Like all good things, I discovered it by accident. In my mid 40s, I attempted to play the saxaphone badly. While waiting for a lesson at our local arts centre, I saw an exhibition of felt. The colour,s textures and form instantly grabbed my attention and I have been hooked ever since. I ditched the sax and even though life took me to live in China and America before returning to the UK in 2018, I always felted. 3D really intrigued me and the possibility that anything can be made from felt. Bowls, slippers, wearable art and now hats. Last year I made a tour of Australian felters who have inspired me to perfect the use of silk and wool together - Nuno felting. With the help of some great tuition from Zsofia Marx, a fantastic hat maker, I am now striving to make the perfect hat to make anyone feel positively fulfilled.
