Exhibition information

I love something new – a new piece of kit, or a new technique.I am like a magpie! This year I have played with a Tombow pen ( amazing)oxides in ceramics (difficult ) and learned new ways of printmaking. The new printmaking techniques are quite a challenge, but it is really good to stretch yourself, and you never know where you will end up.The oxides have led to the problematic Majolica in ceramics, which is really hard to perfect and so far has eluded me. …to the amusement of my group.

The best way to learn is in a group, and I have had some tremendous fun this year. My ceramics class at Oxfordshire Arts is endlessly entertaining and supportive. Abingdon Artists “QOD” group goes sketching in Abingdon every week, and we have all become so much better, and have had such happy times. Also last summer I joined the WOA Churches group, sketching one church a month. It is so rewarding to be with other artists and learn from them all.

Because I haven’t had the pressure of “producing “finished work, I have been able to respond to things that crop up, – like Bampton Community Orchard’s request for illustrations, or Abingdon Artists’”Landscape Painting in a Day “ competition.

It has been a happy year of creativity, and I hope this comes across in my exhibition.

Artist information

I have drawn and painted all my life, but other things have been more pressing and so I have only managed to be creative in little bits. Work, family, a garden, even boring housework have played centre stage. But every moment spent with my paints or my hands in clay is a moment well spent.
