Exhibition information

My work focuses on creating functional ceramics that blend usefulness with warmth, character, and gentle humour. Using the potter’s wheel as a starting point, I shape simple forms that are later transformed through hand-built details and surface decoration.

Animal-inspired designs such as ducks, owls, and bears feature strongly in my work. These playful elements give each piece its own personality, encouraging emotional connection and a sense of joy in everyday use.

I enjoy the balance between structure and spontaneity in my practice. While wheel-throwing provides precision and control, I allow space for experimentation and natural variation. Small imperfections and individual quirks are embraced as part of the handmade process.

Each piece is designed to be both practical and uplifting. Whether a mug, vase, or decorative object, my ceramics are intended to be used, handled, and treasured, bringing comfort and delight to ordinary moments.

Artist information

I am a ceramic artist based in Oxfordshire and a primary school teacher. Creativity, learning, and curiosity play an important role in both my teaching and artistic practice.

Alongside my work in education, adore evening pottery sessions at Fired up Studios, working primarily on the wheel and developing character-led functional pieces. At school I run a clay club, to help children to explore materials with confidence and imagination. This encourages me to approach my work with openness and playfulness.

I am passionate about making ceramics that feel accessible and welcoming. My work reflects my love of storytelling, gentle humour, and the emotional connections people form with handmade objects.

Through both teaching and making, I aim to encourage creativity, resilience, and enjoyment in the creative process.
