A Place Between Worlds

My work begins with a walk.

I move through landscapes slowly, along canal paths, through gardens, down quiet lanes, collecting moments that speak not only to what I see, but to what I feel. A shift in light, the movement of air, the presence of something just beyond the visible. I photograph these encounters, but the image is only the beginning.

In the studio, memory and intuition take over. What was once a place becomes something more fluid, an inner landscape shaped by emotion, transformation, and time. I am not trying to recreate the world as it is, but to express how it lives within me.

Nature, for me, is never separate from the spiritual. Trees, flowers, water, and pathways hold a quiet awareness. They become companions, witnesses, and sometimes guides, existing not only in this world, but echoing across others we cannot always see.

I choose to paint on circular canvases because they feel whole. Without edges or corners, there is no beginning or end, no fixed direction. The circle becomes a portal, an opening rather than a boundary. It allows the work to exist as an immersive space, inviting the viewer to enter, to pause, and to experience nature not just as an image, but as a presence.

Each piece is an offering, a moment of stillness, a place of return, a doorway into something both deeply personal and quietly universal.
