Painting Nature’s Magic, touched by Folklore
My artwork is inspired by the magic of the natural world—its wild places, intriguing creatures, and folklore.  Using natural materials found on my walks, and reusing objects with interesting patterns, I layer textures which build paintings that carry the spirit of the places that inspire them. Woven through this textured foundation are echoes of folklore, finished with whimsical details like flecks of gold leaf that glint in the as you walk past.  The result is a body of work that feels fantastical yet grounded—a celebration of nature’s beauty, mystery, and enduring magic.

Artist information

I am a person who loves the outdoors and the natural world.  I especially enjoy immersing myself in woodlands, soaking up the sounds of birds and wind through leaves, and the smell of earth and pine needles.  If only I could capture those elements on canvas!  Before becoming a full-time artist, I worked as a primary school teacher and taught many fantastic children.  These days, I teach art mainly to adults at my three regular classes, as well as demonstrations and workshops to various art societies and organisations.

This year, I am on the brink of change.  I am moving to a lovely old cottage, surrounded by fields and horses, with a lot of challenging renovations to work on.  My children will both be at school from September, giving me more time to concentrate on the house and business.  Over the years, I feel my art has changed, moving from just story-telling to capturing the magic of the natural world with more subtle whispers of folklore.  This year, I will be sharing all my current work, with their patterned and textured elements, which feel more relevant to me as an artist today.  My business is evolving too, and I am excited to see where it ends up in the next few years!

If you’re interested in following this new path with me, or would like to contact me about running any workshops in your area, please contact me or keep track on the socials and say “hello”.
