Artist information
My work explores the four classical elements and their links to renewable technology: air for wind power, fire for solar, earth for geothermal, and water for hydropower. My initial inspiration comes from landscapes which encompass these elements: the wind farms of the UK, the volcanic regions of Tenerife and Cornwall’s coast. I am interested in the crossover between art and science, and create work which increases the awareness of the positive aspects of renewable energy.
Sarah Bond’s vibrant mixed media paintings and monoprints convey the beauty and endeavour of renewable energy. She has channelled a concern about the environment into works redolent of possibility, repositioning signifiers of green technologies such as wind turbines as sublime objects. Sarah homes in on colour contrasts and dynamic shapes. She turns up the volume: colours are more vibrant, the contrasts starker, the lines sharper, to create pieces charged with energy and hope.” Kate Reeve-Edwards
