Artist information
Ruth has lived and painted in North Oxfotdshire and South Northamptonshire area for over 40 years. I joined ‘Church Lane Gallery’ in Banbury 3 years ago and find my fellow artists encouraging and supportive, and the gallery is a good outlet to sell my work.
Exhibition information
Ruth likes to paint with acrylics and pastel, and has been inspired by the beautiful countryside around her. Recently Ruth has also enjoyed paintings street scenes of Banbury and other subjects such as ‘Rainy Day’; and although she remains a landscape painter, she now likes to include birds in her paintings.
She is also interested in textiles and collage. Incorporating paper collage into her acrylic paintings led her to experiment with textiles too. Apart from making silk necklaces , she uses unsold paintings and prints to make cards. Ruth enjoys embellishing them with textiles and embroidery.
Ruth says ’ I am a creative person and find painting and creativity extremely restful and therapeutic’.
