Exhibition information

I paint in acrylics, generally on stretched canvas.  I paint what inspires me and this can be from the simplicity of an object within a landscape which captures how one can see joy in the simplest of our surroundings to complex industrial paintings (to which I have only done a handful, but welcome the challenge 🙂 ).  I like to use colour to bring out the vibrancy of the composition.  I also occasionally paint pet portraits but really I paint a broad spectrum of subjects.

Artist information

I am a local resident, who was born and grew up in Didcot, moving to Blewbury in 2004.  I was schooled in Northbourne CofE Primary School and at St. Birinus Secondary School.  My art teacher at St. Birinus was the late Roy East who was a well known local artist and well respected teacher.

Since leaving school in 1976 I didn’t find the time to paint, with a very busy work schedule and then a family of my own.  However a week before lockdown in March 2020 I had an operation and was restricted from lifting or stretching for 12 long weeks, so while my wife and sons were cleaning gutters, painting house and clearing our sheds and garages, I was left feeling hopeless.  I started to draw and this developed into painting and I have painted ever since.
