Exhibition information

My work centres around the landscape.  Four new pieces from my ‘Conjunction’ series are exhibited.  These mixed media works take inspiration from ancient / established woodland.  A place which I revisit in my work is High Park on the Blenheim Estate. Initially, I take photographs which I then select from and work from these back in my home studio. The works are developed over a period of time, it would be unusual for me to complete any piece in one sitting. Starting with ink and stick I plot out the composition and then block out colour in acrylic. From this I then build up layers combing acrylic with oil pastel and graphite.  Alongside these recent works are 2 oil on canvas pieces from 2017.  Reflecting on these I can see similarities within my colour palette and the textures which are very prominent here. I can recall that these were made using up left over oils mixed across different palettes and mixed directly on the surface.  Finally, there is a linocut made at the end of 2025. This was made in an attempt to capture the same subject in a tighter, monochromatic graphic format.
