Exhibition information

This latest Artweeks exhibition includes perhaps fewer works than previous shows but with my usual variety of styles and subject areas. Most of the work is newly produced. It offers an insight into how my work is developing and changing.

Artist information

Life drawing has been a consistent practise, even during a busy working life. Penny has been developing her art since retirement. This has been helped by working with a wide variety of tutors and fellow artists. She paints primarily with oils and enjoys creating textural effects by adding organic material into the mix. Drawing with inks, gouache and oil pastels is also a great pleasure. Figurative images remain important and life drawing still a favourite pursuit. Penny’s art covers landscape, interiors, still life and figurative work. She draws with inks and oil pastels and paints in oils.  Colour and texture are important elements.

Penny paints and draws because she finds it so rewarding despite the frustrations and challenges. Penny is very happy in her studio, surrounded by her work. It is however also fun to occasionally let others see the work. It can be fascinating and surprising to hear and see the reactions of others.
