Exhibition information

My work this year is split between two distinct styles.  About half are oil paintings and the others reduction lino cuts   The oils are landscapes, largely but not exclsively local.

A lot of water seems to have crept into the lino cuts subject matter but there are flowers too.  Working in two mediums like this can confuse the brain but the opposing approaches, building up paint  or cutting away an image,  can lead to fresh interpretations.  There are also a couple of mixed media which give an opportunity for a more playful  interpretation.

Artist information

I have lived in Wanntage for over 60 years and feel I might be approaching being considered a local but doubt I will ever quite qualify.  I have painted on and off over this time althugh work and bringing up family and helping with grand and great grands  and playing with great great grand have interupted. When I retired I thought I would paint more  but became sidetracked into studying archaeology.  This might sound a total diversion but much of what I have done is about observation and interpretation and one activity enriches the others.   I have found it harder to concentrate on finishing work this year but not ready to give up quite yet.
