Artist information
Nick is an Abingdon-based graphic artist and award-winning writer. Proudly self-taught, Nick brings restless creativity and a sense of fun to everything he makes. Nick takes his inspiration from pop culture and the urban environment: signs, street art, adverts, music, film, and TV all feed his creative muse. Nick has a condition called Aphantasia which means he cannot visualise images in his “mind’s eye.” Unable to draw pictures from his imagination, he takes a collage approach to making art, combining photographs, text, vector artwork, and 3D models into complex multi-layered creations. As a technology professional, Nick is comfortable with digital tools and uses them freely in his design process, but prefers to physically make the resulting artwork. He employs a range of mediums in his finished work including spray paint, screen printing, vinyl, and acrylic paint. Nick is a member of Oxford Printmakers Collective (OPC) and the Visual Artists Association (VAA).
