Artist information
I grew up surrounded by people who made things - from woodwork, sewing and crochet to painting and gardening. It is no wonder that I went on to study art, specialising in printed furnishing fabric design - quite fitting as some of my first words were 'nice curtains!' I worked in the furnishing trade designing and colouring in-house and bespoke collections. It was an inspiring time (pre-computerisation), working directly with the printers and with traditional screen printing equipment. Influence from this time is evident in my work as I use printing techniques such as screen, lino and block which are often then layered to create a single individual image.
My most recent pieces are reduction linoprints - a method in which carving the lino block reduces it to nothing, and so the image can never be reprinted. These have been printed in small limited edition numbers. Inspiration recently has been found in the changing seasons, the natural world and views seen when walking through our beautiful countryside.
